This book tells about how humans and society evolve while nature degrades. David Attenborough’s stories are very interesting.

I can’t resist talking about my own experiences. I have seen a lot of nature sites in both China and Canada, and the difference between the two countries is astonishing. I visited two coastal sites this year in China. The beaches there are full of plastic waste, except for one managed beach. I also have visited serval beaches in Canada. The beaches are not managed but very clean and pleasant. I didn’t realize how serious pollution is in China before I went to Canada. This is exactly caused by the shifting baseline syndrome mentioned in this book.
